To which major air law treaties is your state a party?
Nigeria is a signatory to the following significant air law treaties: the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment and the Protocol to the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment on Matters specific to Aircraft Equipment (Cape Town, 2001);
- the Convention on International Civil Aviation (Chicago, 1944) and the Protocol relating to an amendment to the Convention on International Civil Aviation (article 83-bis (Montreal, 1980)); and
- the Convention on the International Recognition of Rights in Aircraft (Geneva, 1948).
These multilateral treaties are in effect by virtue of their respective domestication into law in the Civil Aviation Act 2006 (CAA). Nigeria has not acceded to nor ratified the Rome Convention (1952).
